NORTHRIDGE, CA – Sedona Prince’s viral Tik Tok in 2021 has helped spotlight issues with NCAA and equality. Last year, the video showed comparisons in the March Madness tournament between the men and women in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NCAA has now changed some aspects of the two different tournaments.

In 2021, there was a viral video traveling around posted by Sedona Prince. The video compared weight rooms between men and women. The video shows small weight racks for women. For the men, it showed squat racks and bench presses.
The video shows the women’s practice courts. Compared to the women’s, the men’s practice area was substantially bigger.
There were social media posts on what women got in their gift bags. The bags’ content was two shirts, water bottles, socks, an umbrella, and a towel. The men got a book, shampoo, deodorant, and other items.
Social media account overtimewbb posted a video of the food women received and what the men received. The female athletes got food in containers while men received multiple buffet options.
The videos and social media posts seemed to start a change and bring eyes to the problem. NCAA has made subtle changes for the upcoming March Madness tournament.
Women and men will both have similar branding across locker rooms and courts. The basketball staff for both tournaments now have a staff limit of 10 members. Previous to the rule change, men had 11 staff members, and women had 7.
The tournament starts on March 17th and will continue through April.
