NORTHRIDGE, CA – Sage Steele is suing ESPN and its parent company, Walt Disney. Steele is suing because ESPN reacted to her comments on a podcast she was featured in, released on September 29th, 2021.

Steele was featured on a podcast of former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.
She questioned the COVID vaccine mandate on the podcast and criticized former United States President Barack Obama.
“If they make you choose a race, what are you gonna put? Well, both,” Steele said. “Barack Obama chose Black, and he’s biracial … congratulations to the President. That’s his thing. I think that’s fascinating, considering his Black dad is nowhere to be found, but his white mom and grandma raised him, but OK. You do you.
Shortly after the podcast was released, she caught COVID and ESPN made her apologize for her comments.
Seven months passed, and Steele filed a lawsuit stating that ESPN had breached her contract and violated her free-speech rights.
Steele stated that ESPN has stopped giving her primetime assignments and has sidelined her from the company’s main showtimes.
The lawsuit also expresses the company not taking action when colleagues of Steele were harassing and bullying her.
ESPN responded to the Lawsuit.
“Sage remains a valued contributor on some of ESPN’s highest-profile content, including the recent Masters telecasts and anchoring our noon SportsCenter,” said the company.
