NORTHRIDGE, CA – This winter Qatar will host the Fifa World Cup tournament. The Middle East country has built eight new stadiums for the upcoming events, but there are some problems.

At the Bank of California Stadium in Los Angeles, fan Chris Farmer gives his take on Qatar hosting this year’s World Cup. “I hate it. I hate every single thing about it. I wish I had the pure facts and pure articles that I can cite as to all the terrible things that happened as they built the stadiums,” Farmer said.
Although Qatar built eight brand new stadiums, problems still came up. The country set up a super Cup at the Lusail Stadium, which holds 80,000 seats. It was a trial event to find out what adjustments the stadium needed before the World Cup. Problems with restrooms, poor air conditioning, water supply, rising temperatures, and humidity were major issues.
Farmer added about the problems, “I’m not surprised,” he said. “We’ve seen this with the Olympics, particularly in Brazil. They built a ton of stadiums in random places where probably stadiums didn’t need to be.”
The 2022 world cup will be played from November 20 through December 18. FIFA has reported they have sold 2.45 Million tickets out of 3 Million available. In the meantime, Qatar has some problems to address before the start of the tournament.
