NORTHRIDGE, CA – Denmark national footballer Christian Eriksen has returned to the Denmark team after his collapse. The event took place during the UEFA European Championship tournament against Finland on June 12th, 2020.

The Denmark national team announced that the 30-year-old midfielder Christian Eriksen would be part of the team for international friendly matches after missing time due to a cardiac arrest episode. The games were against the Netherlands and Serbia.
Eriksen played his first national team game back against the Netherlands on March 26. was cheering on his teammates from the bench, waiting for his opportunity. He came onto the field as a halftime substitution for Jesper Lindstrom.
The audience’s cheers rained on the field as he took his position. Eriksen scored right after his substitution in the 46th minute.
“...it was a very warm and very heartwarming reception for sure,” said Eriksen after his first game back.
The Netherlands won the game 4-2 against Denmark.
The 30-year-old played his second game back against Serbia on March 29. During this game, he returned to the Telia Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he collapsed.
Eriksen got the call for the starting 11 as the captain.
The applause and ovations given to him by the fans brought a smile to his face.
Eriksen scored a goal against the Serbians at the 57th-minute mark. Denmark defeated Serbia 3-0.
The midfielder plays with an Implantable Cardioverterdefibrilator (ICD), which responds to irregular rhythms and shocks to reset the heart rate. After not knowing if he would be able to play or not, he has returned with immediate impact.
This will not be the last we see of Christian Eriksen in a Denmark uniform. He plans to play in the 2022 World Cup starting in November.
