Deepfakes Today

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Deepfakes have a grip on today's society and social media. They are used to create memes or represent someone of power doing something they usually don't do.

Theo Von is a comedian who used technology to make a deep fake video. Von posted it on his social media platforms. He placed his face on singer Luis Miguel singing his famous song, Ahora Te Puedes Marchar.

There are more severe examples of the use of technology. While the Ukrainians and Russians were at the beginning stages, there was a video of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy telling his soldiers to stop the fighting.

The problem of AI technology may be getting progressively worse with technology advancements, and it is spread to the population. For example, Snapchat users can scroll to the left and find themselves in a message thread with an AI.
